I really wanted something that would display them all well, so I could quickly look at them and know exactly what I wanted to wear. One day, I was wandering aimlessly around Michael's and stumbled upon the clearance section. They had 2 memory boards/picture boards/cork boards/whatever they're called on clearance. For $2 a piece. Ding, ding, ding! Bells went off. Perfect for hanging necklaces!
The A used to hold all of my necklaces. I did have a few more necklaces than this, but since I was spacing them out, I took the opportunity to get rid of some (the cheap ones that had turned colors). And necklace that I actually have to unhook to take off, I just put through the ribbon.
And I bought some clear pushpins at Target for a buck and use those to hang the necklaces that I don't have to unhook to take off. I still use the A to hang a couple necklaces that have beads all the way around (like my string of fake pearls) that don't hang on the pins well and don't have a clasp to unhook.
I'm considering covering them in a different fabric, to match the rest of my bedroom. I'd probably cover all of it and not bother with all the ribbons/buttons and use pushpins for all of my necklaces instead.
And several months ago, I found this at Claire's on sale for $10 that is perfect for my earrings with hooks. And most of my bracelets. I put the hoop earrings in the wooden jewelry box.
I keep my heavier bracelets and my watches in a basket next to the earring stand. I'm not crazy about that, because it takes up a lot of space and they're not very organized in it, but until I figure something else out, that'll do.
